Although Macedonia Cemetery consists of over one-hundred burial sites for the formerly enslaved and their descendants, as time has passed the conditions of the graveyard has substantially decreased, leaving the site uncared for. To go into the specifics, the cemetery has been abandoned leading to: unmaintained and broken headstones much needed to be repaired, unmarked graves of various enslaved and descendants of slaves, and deprivation of the overall Macedonia property. With the intended work and purpose of Student Leadership Johns Creek and Johns Creek Historical Society, headstones and footstones of graves are planned to be cleaned and restored, unmarked graves are planned to be mapped and identified, and the area will hopefully be restored to an area of peace and memory with a memorial garden. Macedonia Cemetery will finally be able to step out of its hidden place. The Macedonia Cemetery should no longer be remembered as a place of abandonment, but a place of rest. With the donations and efforts of various people, including you, Macedonia Cemetery will get a better chance of restoration and repair.
